Teaching

As faculty members our teaching activity is played at the Science Building, Campus A Zapateira, A Coruña, in the Chemistry degree mainly in Organic Chemistry. We are also involved in various Master degrees such as Chemical Research and Industrial Chemistry and Master in Science, Technologies and Environmental Management. Our current teaching activity is detailed at institutional web page.

TEACHING INNOVATION

The group is also involved in a teaching innovation project under the title ORGCHEM. The main objective of this project is to incorporate new tools to teach and learn Organic Chemistry.

As a first tool we have developed a series of documents to conduct properly the final degree project for under graduate students. This new tool has been presented in the IV Xornadas de Innovación docente (November 21-22, 2019). The main docs can be downloaded in this web page.

Manual de instrucciones | Plantilla TFG | Póster-IVXID-2019

Recently we have prepared some short videos to illustrate basic operations in a Organic Chemistry lab:

Pesada en un granatario

Pesada en una balanza analítica

Trasvase de sólidos

Reflujo

Medida de volúmenes

Cromatografía en capa fina

 Filtración a gravedad y a vacío

 Destilación a presión reducida (rotavapor)

FINAL DEGREE PROJECTS (TFGs and TFMs)

In connection with our research activity, we are offering every year final degree projects (TFGs) for undergraduate and TFMs for master students. The projects are developed at the Centro de Investigaciones Científicas Avanzadas (CICA, cica.udc.es). During the training period, the students, are working in a laboratory with modern equipment, acquiring a fundamental formation in Organic Chemistry, especially about the manipulation of organometallic compounds and the isolation, purification and structural elucidation of organic compounds and organometallic complexes with application in different areas (bioactive compounds and materials science). In parallel to the research activity, the student complement the formation attending to conferences and seminars organized at CICA and the Department.
